THE POWER OF BITTER MELON
Momordica charantia (colloquially: bitter melon; bitter apple; bitter gourd; bitter squash; balsam-pear; with many more names listed below)[1] is a tropical and subtropical vine of the family Cucurbitaceae, widely grown in Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean for its edible fruit. Its many varieties differ substantially in the shape and bitterness of the fruit.

Bitter melon originated in Africa[2] where it was a dry-season staple food of ǃKung hunter-gatherers.[3] Wild or semi-domesticated variants spread across Asia in prehistory, and it was likely fully domesticated in Southeast Asia.[2][4] It is widely used in the cuisines of East Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.
Bitter melon has been used in various Asian and African herbal medicine systems for a long time.[7][8] In Turkey, it has been used as a folk remedy for a variety of ailments, particularly stomach complaints.[9] In traditional medicine of India, different parts of the plant are used as claimed treatments for diabetes (particularly Polypeptide-p, an insulin analogue), and as a stomachic, laxative, antibilious, emetic, anthelmintic agent, for the treatment of cough, respiratory diseases, skin diseases, wounds, ulcer, gout, and rheumatism.[10]

Note: Don’t consume bitter melon while pregnant or breastfeeding.
Ingredients
½ – 1 small bitter melon
1 apple
1 pear (optional)
2 celery sticks
1 lemon
Directions
Wash all produce well with vinegar or salt to remove dirt and germs.
Remove the skin from the apple.
Cut the bitter melon in half longways, scoop out the seeds and white flesh with a spoon and juice the outer green of the bitter melon.
All produce through juicer and enjoy!

Pineapple – apple, green melon
Pear – apple, orange
Celery – cucumber, zucchini, chard (silverbeet)
Lemon – grapefruit, lime
